Polk County Sheriff's Office seeks a Detention Deputy to monitor, control and account for inmates and visitors within detention facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining logs, supervising inmate housing, operating security equipment and ensuring safety during transport, visits and recreation.

The role emphasizes teamwork, professional demeanor and adherence to procedures. Qualified candidates will perform security duties, manage inmate movement, handle records, and respond to emergencies

Responsibilities

• Operate remote control panel
• Operate manual cell locks
• Conduct inmate counts
• Verify inmate counts
• Patrol housing/confinement areas
• Maintain security of keys
• Maintain control room or office logs
• Control civilian traffic in restricted areas
• Patrol and inspect perimeter of facility
• Monitor closed-circuit television
• Escort visitors or vendors
• Supervise inmate barber
• Prevent escape attempts
• Obtain medical or dental assistance
• Report unusual emergency situations
• Direct evacuation
• Apply restraints
• Subdue disorderly inmates
• Search confinement areas
• Search inmate property
