Job summary

Wake County Detention Services Division seeks a vigilant Communications and Security Systems Operator to monitor CCTV, door controls, alarms, and access. You will coordinate with detention staff, medical personnel, and external responders while maintaining logs and following strict security protocols. Location: Raleigh, NC.

Employment type: Regular. Shifts are 12 hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Hiring range: $25.43–$29.08 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of administrative/office support experience.
• Equivalent education and experience are accepted.

Responsibilities

• Serve as central operator of communications and electronic security systems.
• Operate and monitor CCTV, door controls, intercoms and alarms.
• Control resident, staff and visitor movement to ensure safety.
• Support daily security operations and emergencies.
• Monitor alarms and initiate appropriate response protocols.
• Maintain surveillance of detention operations.
• Coordinate communication among detention staff, medical personnel and external responders.
• Keep accurate electronic and written logs of equipment status.
• Conduct routine system checks on control room equipment.
• Assist with lockdowns, evacuations and other incidents.
• Ensure compliance with policy and accreditation standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Answer incoming calls and route inquiries to appropriate departments.
