Job summary

LaSalle Corrections at Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, TX is seeking a Sergeant to supervise staff, enforce rules, and ensure safety and order among non-citizens.

You will supervise searches for contraband, maintain records, and provide training and counseling to employees while upholding facility policies and federal regulations. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential. The role is on-site, full-time with pay of $31 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate employees.
• Care for non-citizens and enforce rules/regulations in housing and work areas.
• Supervise searches for contraband and provide security.
• Observe non-citizens during activities and assigned duties.
• Review and update information in non-citizen health, safety, and security records.
• Maintain and prepare records, forms and reports.
• Develop positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and providing feedback.
• Maintain accountability of staff, non-citizens and property; follow safety practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Warden.
