Job summary

York County Government is seeking a full-time LPN to join the Detention Division at the Moss Justice Center. The role administers routine and emergency medical care for inmates and staff, with twelve-hour shifts including holidays and weekends.

The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive, market-rate pay scale. Applicants must hold an LPN license, CPR/First Aid/AED, and Pharmacy Technician certifications, and meet education requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate’s degree or equivalently two years of college education in Nursing.
• One year of nursing or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs assessments on inmates by doing the following tasks: initial booking, sick call and physicals.
• Assists nurses and physicians with exams as necessary: performs general nursing duties such as administering medications, collecting blood, urine and other body samples and vital signs, administering TST injections.
• Attends training, meetings, seminars, etc. as necessary to enhance job knowledge.
• Charts all sick call contacts, assessments, physicals, doctors’ calls, mental health calls, and dental calls.
• Administers medication as ordered.
• Prepares for and assists with doctor calls, mental health calls and dental calls.
• Responds to all medical emergencies involving inmates and staff.
• Performs lab draws and labs procedures as ordered by doctor.
