Job summary

Beyond Finance is seeking a senior security operations leader to own detection and response across our SaaS, endpoints, and AWS environments. You’ll stay hands-on while coaching the team and maturing the detections, pipelines, and investigations as we introduce automation and AI into security operations.

You will drive detection engineering, logging, and detection-as-code, with a clear mandate to build new capabilities from architecture through production and to lead reporting to security and IT

Qualifications

• 7+ years in security operations, detection, or incident response.
• Ability to break down roadmaps into concrete, sequenced work for the team.
• Writes scripts and builds detection logic as code.
• Track record of taking projects from prototype to production, including architecture and hands-on build.
• Depth in SIEM and SOAR; experience with Datadog Cloud SIEM and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Lead the response when an incident is confirmed; manage on-call rotation.
• Own detection lifecycle: write, tune, retire detections; map to MITRE ATT&CK; reduce false positives.

• Move detections into version control with testing and peer reviews.

The Role

You'll own detection and response for our environment: monitoring, triage, and incident response across our SaaS applications, user workstations, and AWS. You'll stay hands-on, coaching and growing the team while working in the detections, pipelines, and investigations yourself. You're inheriting an established function with room to mature, and a mandate to build: as we bring automation and AI into security operations, you'll take new capabilities from idea to production.

What You'll Own

• Security operations: monitoring, triage, and incident response across our SaaS applications, user workstations, and AWS, including signals from insider risk. You lead the response when an incident is confirmed, and you share the team's on-call rotation.
• Detection engineering: own the detection lifecycle, write, tune, and retire detections, map coverage to MITRE ATT&CK, and reduce false positives.
• Logging pipeline: ingest, normalize, enrich, and route security telemetry through APIs and connectors.
• Detection-as-code: move the team's detections into version control with testing and peer review, the way we already manage cloud and policy as code.
• New capabilities: stand up net-new detection and response platforms and capabilities, owning them from architecture through production.
• Automation and AI in the SOC: apply them to triage, alert summarization, workflow orchestration, and response recommendations, keeping a human in the loop. Turn repetitive work into reusable tooling.
• Reporting: brief security and IT leadership on incidents, detection coverage, and program maturity.

What You Bring

• 7+ years in security operations, detection, or incident response.
• You can take a broad roadmap and prioritize independently, breaking the big picture into concrete, sequenced work for you and the team.
• You write your own scripts and build detection logic as code.
• A track record of taking projects from prototype to production, including the architecture and the hands-on build.
• Depth in SIEM and SOAR; we use Datadog Cloud SIEM, ingesting logs from across our platforms, including AWS.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers or analysts; formal management tenure is not required.
• You can identify which KPIs apply where and set acceptable thresholds for each, across measures such as detection coverage, false-positive rate, MTTR, and automation rate.

Nice to Have

• Certifications such as CISSP, the GIAC detection/IR family, or OSCP.
• Experience applying AI or LLMs to security work.
• Awareness of AI-specific risks such as prompt injection and agent trust boundaries.
• Hands-on threat hunting experience.
• Purple teaming or adversary emulation to validate detections.
• Fintech or other regulated-industry experience, and familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2, or GLBA.
• Experience securing cloud-native and containerized environments.

The base annual salary range is listed below. This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus.

Base Salary Range

$150,000 - $180,000 USD
