Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a skilled professional to support construction projects through the creation, coordination, and management of shop drawings, BIM modeling, and MEP systems. You will collaborate across teams to improve project efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities include creating shop drawings for mechanical systems, coordinating MEP aspects, and producing 3D BIM models. Strong reading of construction docs and knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal trades are

Qualifications

• High School or GED and 2 years of related experience or trade apprentice program completion.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to write, edit and proofread content.
• Good understanding of craft.
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents.
• Current knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal trades and field installation methods.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to coordinate projects.
• Knowledge of BIM/CAD software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD).

• Provide support on construction projects including receiving, logging, tracking, expediting and distribution of shop drawings, RFIs and other construction project documentation.
• Create shop drawings for mechanical systems in construction projects.
• Create equipment, room layout, and detail drawings.
• Maintain a protocol of documents so information can be retrieved and understood by others.
• Achieve reduced time/costs related to potential errors of clash detection.
• Provide MEP coordination.
• 3D modeling using BIM.
• Attend and participate in construction and other meetings as required.
• Collaborate with design and build team to eliminate construction errors due to design flaws.
