Job summary

Open Sky Community Services is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.

This position collaborates with programs across the organization to support financial operations and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record recurring, reclassification, and adjusting journal entries, ensuring accuracy and appropriate documentation.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned accounts, including cash, receivables, prepaid expenses, and payroll-related accounts.
• Process daily cash receipts, cash adjustments, and loan, mortgage, and bond payment transactions across multiple banking institutions.
• Manage weekly mobile check deposits and maintain supporting financial records and documentation.
• Support purchasing card (P-Card) administration, including expense review, user training, account maintenance, and issue resolution.
• Assist with audits, respond to financial inquiries, and contribute to the improvement of accounting processes, controls, and reporting practices.
