Job summary

Open Sky Community Services is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. The Staff Accountant supports month-end close activities, reconciles accounts, and ensures compliance with internal controls and accounting standards across programs in Central Massachusetts.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance and at least two years of accounting experience, with strong analytical and organizational skills and advanced Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record recurring, reclassification, and adjusting journal entries with documentation.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned accounts (cash, receivables, prepaid, payroll-related).
• Process daily cash receipts, cash adjustments, and loan/mortgage/bond payments across multiple banks.
• Manage weekly mobile check deposits and maintain supporting records.
• Assist with P-Card administration: expense review, training, account maintenance, issue resolution.
• Support audits and contribute to improvements in accounting processes and reporting.
