Job summary

Axonic Insurance is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Finance team’s general accounting, close, reconciliation, and reporting activities. This role will contribute across a broad range of accounting functions and help ensure AXI’s financial records are accurate, complete, and timely.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Experience preparing journal entries and supporting documentation for monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Experience performing general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations and resolving reconciling items.
• Insurance or financial services experience preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and closing documentation.
• Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support cash, accrual, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other general accounting activities.
• Assist with financial statements, schedules, and management reporting.
• Support GAAP and statutory financial reporting processes.
• Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies in coordination with internal partners.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Support accounting system initiatives, process improvements, and other Finance projects.
• Partner with other departments to gather information and address accounting matters.
• Perform additional accounting and reporting responsibilities as needed.
