Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma and advanced training or certification in billing, coding and insurance, or equivalent experience.
• CGIC certification within two years of employment.
• Minimum one year of medical coding experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding and payer guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation and enter CPT/HCPCS codes, ICD-10-CM diagnoses, modifiers, units, place of service, and related data for professional and ASC services.
• Verify codes and data entries for accuracy, including attachments like authorizations and claim notes.
• Ensure diagnoses follow ICD-10-CM guidelines and payer policies; monitor CCI edits and changes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing/coding rules, payer newsletters, and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide training to new staff/providers on coding and documentation compliance.
• Communicate coding/billing changes to providers and staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
