Job description

Location: Chicago, IL Hybrid; onsite approximately 2 times per month
Duration: 6+ Months

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Desktop Platform and Experience Engineer to support enterprise endpoint engineering, application packaging, Windows platform management, and desktop automation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Intune, Windows 10/11, application packaging, FlexApp, PowerShell, and endpoint troubleshooting. The engineer will also support Windows 11 deployment, Autopilot provisioning, endpoint compliance, application lifecycle management, and improvements to desktop support automation.

The selected candidate should be able to work onsite in Chicago approximately twice per month.

Key Responsibilities Application Packaging & Management

• Package, configure, and publish enterprise applications using FlexApp.
• Perform application compatibility testing and validation.
• Troubleshoot application packaging and deployment failures.
• Maintain application package lifecycle documentation.
• Manage and coordinate application onboarding requests.
• Maintain application baselines and packaging standards.

Endpoint Engineering

• Administer and support Microsoft Intune.
• Support Windows Autopilot provisioning and deployment.
• Create, configure, and maintain device configuration policies.
• Manage endpoint compliance policies and reporting.
• Troubleshoot Windows endpoint and device‑management issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate endpoint‑management processes.

Windows Image Management

• Assist with the development and maintenance of enterprise gold images.
• Participate in Windows image testing, validation, and deployment.
• Maintain standard application and configuration baselines.
• Support enterprise Windows 11 deployment and migration initiatives.

Automation & Operational Excellence

• Develop automation using PowerShell and related technologies.
• Identify repetitive operational activities that can be automated.
• Reduce recurring desktop and endpoint incident volumes.
• Improve endpoint monitoring, reporting, and operational visibility.
• Develop and maintain technical procedures and support documentation.
• Create knowledge‑base articles for common desktop and endpoint issues.

Service Desk & Support Transition

• Partner closely with the Service Desk and other infrastructure teams.
• Develop structured tiered‑support processes.
• Create troubleshooting guides and technical support documentation.
• Improve first‑contact resolution capabilities.
• Transfer endpoint engineering knowledge and procedures to appropriate support teams.
