Job summary

Cognizant in Hooksett, NH is seeking a Desktop Engineer Intern to provide hands-on, onsite technical support that keeps end users productive and devices running smoothly. You will join the internal IT support team and collaborate with site staff to resolve hardware issues and printer requests.

This role requires enrolled STEM student status, availability for 20 hours per week onsite (5 days, 4 hours daily), and reliable transportation between HQ and retail locations as needed.

• Currently attending a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university, pursuing a STEM major.
• Availability to work part-time, 20 hours per week (5 days a week, 4 hours a day), onsite.
• A high level of quality and strong attention to detail.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between HQ and Retail locations as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite technical support for basic hardware-related issues with desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
• Provide onsite support for printer-related issues and requests, including label printers, mobile printers, receipt printers, and toners.
• Configure new desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals according to SOPs.
• Review knowledge base and SOPs; update outdated SOPs and create new ones for defined processes.

About the role

As a Desktop Engineer Intern, you will make an impact by providing hands‑on, onsite technical support that keeps end users productive and their devices running smoothly. You will be a valued member of the internal IT support team and work collaboratively with fellow IT team members and client site staff.

In this role, you will

• Provide onsite technical support for basic hardware‑related issues with desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.

• Provide onsite support for printer‑related issues and requests, including label printers, mobile printers, receipt printers, and toners.

• Configure new desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals according to standard operating procedures.

• Review the knowledge base and SOPs, update outdated SOPs for new or changing processes, and create SOPs for newly defined processes and procedures.

Hourly rate and other compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
