Job summary

WakeMed in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Desktop & Client Support Technician to provide hands-on support for end-user devices, software, peripherals, and AV systems across WakeMed locations. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, assist with deployments, and maintain AV and video conferencing equipment to ensure smooth operations.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma (Associate's preferred), 2+ years in a large IT environment, and strong customer service skills to communicate

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Two years of experience supporting technology in an Information Services environment and working within a large-scale user environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows-based workstations, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, and AV technologies.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
  • Healthcare or multi-hospital system experience and networking-related certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, mobile devices, peripherals, and AV equipment across the organization.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support to end users in person, remotely, by phone, and through email to resolve hardware and software issues quickly and effectively.
  • Support and maintain audio visual and video conferencing technologies, including cameras, projectors, display screens, microphones, and conference room equipment.
  • Coordinate with the IT Service Desk, Network Services, Infrastructure Services, IT Security, and other technology teams to resolve issues and ensure operational excellence.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, device lifecycle management, print queue support, hard drive encryption, degaussing, and other technical support activities.
