Job summary

LRS Architects, Inc. in Portland, Oregon, is expanding its Civic Studio and seeks Designers, Design Coordinators, and Design Leads to shape civic spaces that strengthen communities.

You’ll work with architects, interior designers, consultants, and project leaders on projects like public facilities and civic venues. You’ll grow technical and leadership skills, participate in client meetings, and contribute to design excellence in a collaborative, people‑first firm with mentorship and growth

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) required.
• Experience with Revit and BIM‑based project environments.
• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to planning, design, and technical development of civic/public projects.
• Produce and coordinate BIM models, construction documents, details, schedules, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Coordinate technical information across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil disciplines.
• Support project delivery from programming through construction administration.
• Participate in client meetings, consultant coordination, and presentations.
• Apply BIM standards and QA processes to projects.
• Mentor junior staff and guide project teams (Design Lead candidates).

You’ll help create public‑facing environments that enhance the lives of the people who live, work, and gather in them. Working alongside architects, interior designers, consultants, and project leaders, you’ll contribute to projects ranging from fairgrounds and event centres to county offices, justice facilities, public safety buildings, and other civic environments that make a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to the planning, design, and technical development of civic and public‑sector projects.

• Apply firm BIM standards, quality assurance processes, and project delivery best practices.
• Mentor junior staff and help guide project teams (Design Lead candidates).
• Continue developing your technical, leadership, and professional skills through mentorship and hands‑on project experience.

Requirements

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)
• Passion for designing meaningful public spaces that positively impact communities.

• Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to continually learn and grow.
• Experience working in Revit and BIM‑based project environments.

Skills And Experience We Value

Designer

• Approximately 1‑6 years of professional experience
• Growing technical and design capabilities
• Developing proficiency in Revit and construction documentation

Design Coordinator

• Approximately 6‑10 years of professional experience
• Experience coordinating project documentation and consultant work
• Strong understanding of building systems, codes, detailing, and project delivery

Design Lead

• Approximately 10+ years of professional experience
• Experience leading project teams and mentoring staff
• Ability to coordinate complex projects while maintaining design quality, technical excellence, schedules, and consultant coordination
• Additional qualifications include:
• Experience with civic, municipal, justice, public safety, higher education, recreation, or other institutional/public‑sector projects preferred
• Experience coordinating construction documents through multiple phases
• Knowledge of applicable building codes and accessibility requirements
• Construction administration experience is a plus
• Progress toward or attainment of architectural licensure is encouraged
