This is a foundational design role focused on supporting the Design Team throughout the product development process. The Assistant Designer will contribute to the development of original textile designs while helping prepare design specifications, artwork, presentations, and product development materials. Working closely with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Color, and Merchandising, this role offers broad exposure to the end-to-end product creation process and the opportunity to build both creative and technical expertise in a highly collaborative environment.
This position reports to the Senior Designer, Textiles & Home Products.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in the development and execution of original textile designs (including prints, wovens, embroideries and knits) that align with the brand’s aesthetic and creative direction
- Develop clear and comprehensive technical specifications that define materials, techniques, scale, color, and construction details to ensure accurate sample execution.
- Build technically accurate repeats, artwork layouts, borders, and scale options while supporting the clean-up, preparation, and finalization of production-ready artwork across multiple product categories
- Partner with the Color team to develop colorways and create pitch pages using our thread and yarn books, Pantone, and Archroma color libraries, maintaining accurate presentations as products evolve throughout development.
- Revise artwork, specifications, and presentation materials based on design reviews, sampling results, factory feedback and cross functional input
- Create product renderings, AI-assisted mockups, and other visual assets to support design presentations and internal reviews
- Create and maintain design decks and other presentation materials for milestone meetings and executive reviews
- Maintain organized digital design files and product development assets using established naming conventions to ensure accuracy, version control, and easy access across teams.
- Operate and maintain in-house Epson printers to produce accurate, full-scale design printouts for sampling, reviews, and internal presentations, ensuring files are properly organized and archived.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Technical Design, Color, Merchandising, and Production to bring thoughtfully designed products to life.
- Demonstrate strong responsiveness and openness to feedback, iterating quickly on work based on direction from senior team members
- Proactively communicate project status, revisions and upcoming deliverables
- Research trends and gather inspiration across fashion, interiors, art, architecture and vintage to support seasonal development
- Develop a deep understanding of the brand aesthetic, product assortment, fabrications, construction techniques, quality standards, and commitment to sustainability
- Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn by incorporating feedback and continuously refining both creative and technical skills
