Job summary

Yahoo News seeks a Designer, Social Storytelling & Visual to shape journalism across platforms. You will translate reporting into compelling social content and develop interactive experiences, maps, and motion graphics while maintaining editorial standards.

You will collaborate with the Social team to evolve the brand’s social identity, produce scalable templates, and explore AI-assisted workflows for engaging readers across Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels.

Qualifications

3+ years of design and illustration experience.
Strong portfolio with social content, data visualization or interactive editorial work.
Experience designing for social platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
Familiarity with Ceros, Mapbox, AI-powered creative tools or similar platforms.
Strong communication and collaboration in fast-paced teams.
Passion for journalism, visual storytelling and emerging media formats.

Responsibilities

Translate Yahoo editorial reporting into engaging social content for Instagram, TikTok and emerging platforms.
Design carousels, story sequences, explainers and visual packages optimized for audience engagement.
Collaborate with the Social team on platform strategy, content planning and breaking news coverage.
Develop and evolve Yahoo News and Entertainment’s social visual identity and recurring editorial franchises.
Create scalable templates, toolkits and workflows supporting high-quality content production.
Design interactive editorial experiences using tools like Ceros and Mapbox integrations.
Create map-based storytelling experiences and graphics for short-form video storytelling.
