DESIGNER/SALESPERSON
The Designer/Salesperson is responsible for gathering information from clients, designing the project and securing the commitment to proceed with the project.
They should possess refined design skills, proficiency in computer aided design software and the communication skills and experience required to ask for a sale.
The Designer/Salesperson reports directly to the Sales Manager/Lead Designer. The Designer/Salesperson is a full-time, commission-based exempt position.
Qualifications

- Proficiency in one or more design software programs (20/20, Chief Architect preferred)
- Professional written and communication skills
- Detail oriented
Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree in Design, Architecture or related field preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the house construction process from foundation to finish components
- Previous design experience in the kitchen/bath or residential remodeling space
- Previous sales experience, preferably in home construction or care
Specific Responsibilities
- Meet with prospective clients to review project scope and educate prospective clients about our design and sales process
- Develop initial cost assessments, in collaboration with Estimator and Lead Designer
- Present initial cost assessments to prospective clients and secure design deposits
- Produce and present design options to clients; work with clients to select all fixtures and finish materials
- Coordinate project site visit with Estimator, Senior Project Manager and Trade Partners/Subcontractors to review current conditions and incorporate feedback into design and proposal
- Develop a project job cost and detailed fixed price proposal with input from Estimator
- Secure client commitment to proceed with project and collect deposit
- Collaborate with Production Coordinator to provide necessary documentation to secure permit and prepare construction documents for production staff
- Assist Operations Manager and Project Manager in scheduling a startup meeting with Client prior to project start
- Support Project Manager and Operations Manager during construction period by providing input to design challenges, securing design related change order approvals from clients and resolving client concerns regarding any design related aspects of the construction process
- Schedule and complete a mid-point walkthrough with the client
- Schedule a final walkthrough with client at the completion of the project to review customer satisfaction, warranty policy and collect final payment
- Understand and comply with all company policies
- Understand and comply with all safety guidelines
- Maintain positive customer, fellow employee and public relations
Tools Required
Basic tools to measure a job site - tape measure, laser measure, etc.
Work Hours and Schedule
The Designer/Salesperson is a full-time, exempt position with a compensation based on commission. The hours will vary based on work requirements, but generally will be 40 hours a week between the hours of 8am to 4:30pm.
Physical Requirements
- Duties require ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis, including lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus without color-blindness.
