SBH Fashion in Los Angeles is seeking a talented Designer (Ready-to-Wear) to translate the Creative Director's vision into luxury products. You will develop original concepts, sketches, CADs, color stories, and trims while aligning design excellence with brand identity and business goals.

You will collaborate across Product Development, Production, and Sourcing, participate in fittings, review prototypes, and ensure garments uphold premium quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of apparel design experience in premium or luxury brands.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and product development.
  • Experience creating technical sketches and design packages.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Product Creation: translate inspiration into original concepts and develop CADs, color stories, fabrics, trims, and design details.
  • Product Development Collaboration: prepare detailed design packages and review prototypes with feedback.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: work with Product Development, Production, Technical Design, and Sourcing to ensure manufacturability and cost targets.
  • Sample Review: evaluate prototypes for fit, construction, fabric performance, and quality, recommending revisions.
  • Brand Stewardship: maintain consistency across collections and uphold luxury aesthetics.

Position Summary

Seeking a talented and highly organized Designer to help bring our Creative Director's vision to life. This individual will translate creative inspiration into commercially successful luxury products while balancing design excellence, brand identity, technical execution, and business objectives.

Job Title: Designer (Ready-to-Wear)

Key Responsibilities
Design & Product Creation
  • Translate seasonal inspiration and creative direction into original product concepts.
  • Develop sketches, CADs, color stories, fabrications, trims, and design details.
  • Research fashion trends, luxury market direction, consumer insights, and competitive products.
  • Present design concepts and revisions throughout the development process.
  • Ensure all products reflect the brands’ aesthetic and quality standards.
Product Development Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Product Development throughout the lifecycle of each style.
  • Prepare detailed design packages for development and production.
  • Review prototypes and samples, providing clear design feedback.
  • Participate in fittings and collaborate on design refinements.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work closely with Product Development, Production, Technical Design, and Sourcing to ensure designs are commercially feasible.
  • Balance creativity with costing, manufacturability, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with overseas factories and development partners as needed.
Sample Review
  • Evaluate prototypes and production samples for:
    • Design accuracy
    • Fit and proportion
    • Construction
    • Fabric performance
    • Trim execution
    • Overall quality
  • Recommend revisions while maintaining design intent.
Brand Stewardship
  • Maintain consistency across collections and categories.
  • Uphold the luxury positioning and aesthetic of the brand.
  • Ensure every product reflects the brand's commitment to craftsmanship and premium quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of apparel design experience, preferably within premium or luxury brands.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and product development.
  • Experience creating technical sketches and design packages.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Experience
  • Luxury apparel experience.
  • Knitwear and woven product knowledge.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems is a plus.
  • Understanding of luxury fabrics, yarns, and garment construction.

Salary $120,000-$150,000 (BOE) + Discretionary bonus
