Job summary

The Structures Company in Gainesville, TX is seeking a Designer III for a 6-month contract to support aerospace seat programs. You will coordinate seat designs between customers and vendors, and prepare layouts for structural and articulation systems.

You will utilize CATIA V5 or Pro/Engineer to create drawings, review specifications, and ensure compliance with latest standards. A bachelor's (or higher) in mechanical/aerospace engineering and several years of design experience are required.

Qualifications

  • US Person required under ITAR regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical/Aerospace/related field with minimum 12 years experience in lieu.
  • 5 years of related design experience with Bachelor's degree.
  • 4 years of related design experience with Master's degree.
  • Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.
  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products.
  • Ability to function as part of a design team and work independently with little supervision.
  • Preferred: APQP, DPFMEA, Control Plan experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design of seats and seat components between customers and vendors.
  • Review customer requirements and specifications and incorporate them into product design.
  • Prepare layouts of overall design tasks including structural and articulation systems.
  • Define design standards to maintain commonality with existing product line.
  • Prepare advanced bill of materials and long-lead item lists for seat programs.
  • Review design packages to assure conformance to latest specifications and regulations.
  • Prepare drawings for release using CATIA V5 or Pro/Engineer.
  • Apply knowledge of materials, production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions.
  • Assume liaison duties when product reaches manufacturing stages.
  • Functions as part of a design team and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers.

PAY RATE: $45.00-49.00/hour

Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, or a related engineering degree (minimum 12 years equivalent related engineering experience considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree).

  • Master's degree in related engineering field also acceptable.

  • 5 years of related design experience with Bachelor's degree.

  • 4 years of related design experience with Master's degree.

  • Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.

  • Advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products.

  • Good knowledge of materials, production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions.

  • Ability to function as part of a design team and work independently with little supervision.
