Position Overview

As a Designer II, you will work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer to develop skills in MEP design and engineering. You will handle complex projects independently and collaboratively, contributing to system design and project management. Proficiency with CADD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM is essential. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, and implementing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, especially for advanced technology facilities like semiconductor cleanrooms. This position requires greater responsibility than Designer I and is suited for candidates with a few years of relevant experience. Note: While this is a remote/WFH role, candidates must reside in the greater Austin, TX area.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop accurate 2D/3D design packages for MEP systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM, interpreting engineering calculations.
2. Ensure designs meet industry standards and project specifications.
3. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
4. Participate in design meetings, BIM coordination reviews, and project reviews, proposing solutions to design challenges.
5. Assist in preparing construction documents, specifications, and drawings.
6. Maintain familiarity with BIM processes and coordinate with other disciplines.
7. Lead or contribute to project meetings, ensuring timely delivery and quality milestones.
8. Conduct site visits for conditions assessment, construction monitoring, and troubleshooting.
9. Collaborate on proposals, budgets, schedules, and client presentations with team members.
10. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in MEP systems.
11. Support junior staff development through guidance and feedback.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Designer/Drafter role within the A/E/C industry, with strong MEP design and coordination skills.
• Education: CADD certification, Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CADD tools.
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations into drawings and models.
• Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to attend on-site visits and meetings as needed.

Additional Preferences

• Experience with semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facility design and installation processes.
• Knowledge of BIM processes.
• Residence in the greater Austin, TX area preferred; relocation not required.
