Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an engineering designer/drafter in Virginia to create and refine detailed wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and mechanical systems for large construction projects.

You will verify conformance to codes and company standards, may visit sites, and collaborate with engineers to develop safe, reliable designs using Microstation and AutoCAD. 2+ years of related experience preferred, with an Associate degree or equivalent.

• Knowledge of mechanical, structural, and electrical drafting principles.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
• Ability to lead and teach draftspersons; work independently.

Job Summary

• Manually and electronically designs and drafts detailed drawings, such as wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and mechanical systems for portions of large and/or complex construction projects.
• Evaluates engineering work and supporting documents to verify conformance to industry codes and company specifications and standards.
• May visit construction sites.

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

• 2+ years of related experience. (In addition to preferred Associates degree or its equivalency in directly related experience)
  • Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications
• Knowledge of mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering design drafting principles.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations, related codes, and standards.
• Knowledge of company design and operating standards.
• Abilities: to maintain and update DOT class location maps, to plan and schedule work independently. Lead and teach draftspersons, to size and design structural steel and reinforced concrete components, to complete designs for large and/or complex systems, to develop new applications within the Microstation/AutoCAD system.Strong Microstation/AutoCAD skills. Strong math skills including geometry and trigonometry required to perform complex calculations. Excellent communication skills.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be acceptd in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate

• 2+ years of related experience with an Associates degree.
• 4+ years of related experience with a High School Diploma.

Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:

$65500 - $85000

The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location. This is not intended to represent the full salary range for the position or limit future compensation growth.
