  • Associate's degree in drafting or related technical field with minimum 5 years' experience in a custom manufacturing environment
  • Advanced skills with 3D modeling CAD packages
  • Advanced skills with both mechanical and electrical drawing practices
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain revision control on all CAD files.

Job description

Create technical drawings and design documents to support production of Switchgear Division products.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Responsible for maintaining revision control on all CAD files.
  • Prepare drawings in collaboration with Applications/Sales/Design Engineers.
  • Assemble/Convert design concepts from engineering staff and create design documents that fully specify the design intent and support the manufacture of the product.
  • Prepare both mechanical and electrical design documents.
  • Make recommendations to improve product cost, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Work with production personnel (both Division and vendor) to resolve design issues.
  • Create drawing files and keep them updated according to Company procedures.
  • Support and assist Design Engineering Manager as needed.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.
  • Know MEPPI's Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
  • Associate's degree in drafting or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a custom manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced skills with 3D modeling CAD packages.
  • Advanced skills with both mechanical and electrical drawing practices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products and ERP/MRP systems.
