Job description

The Designer is responsible for transforming ideas, strategy, and creative direction into thoughtful, high-quality visual work across a wide range of client and internal projects. This role brings strong design fundamentals, creative curiosity, and attention to detail to everything from brand identities and campaigns to digital, social, web, video, experiential, and print assets.

Working as part of the Art Department and collaborating closely with Marketing, Strategy, Production, Social, and Account teams, the Designer helps ensure that creative work is not only visually compelling, but strategically aligned with the client's goals, audience, and brand.

This role is expected to contribute throughout the creative process — from concept development and visual exploration through refinement and final delivery. The Designer should be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, receiving and applying feedback, presenting creative thinking, and adapting their design approach based on the needs of each project.

What sets this role apart from a traditional design seat is the expectation that the Designer builds their own workflows. AI-enabled creative tools are a standing part of how we work, not an experiment happening off to the side. If a deliverable takes four hours by hand and ninety minutes with the right setup, we want this person finding the ninety-minute version and spending the difference on the idea — while maintaining strong human judgment and BP's standards for original, intentional work.

Who You Are

You are a creative problem solver, regularly coming up with new ideas and alternate paths around roadblocks. You appreciate consistency and find satisfaction in a job well done. You are technically savvy, embracing the ever-changing world of design, AI, video, and culture to stay relevant. You treat new tools with curiosity and skepticism in equal measure — you'll try anything once, and you know most of what comes out of a generator is close but wrong. You are resourceful, proactive, and detail-oriented. And you are humble, constantly looking to grow and seeing feedback as an opportunity to get better.

You don't need to be a developer or an AI engineer. You do need to understand how technology works well enough to bend it to your ideas, and you need to be studying on your own because you find it genuinely interesting.

Although the number of years is not an accurate predictor of success in this role, it's likely the person to fill this role will have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience. That experience could be as an independent contractor, corporate employee, or at an agency.

Responsibilities

The Designer will focus on the following core activities. These are representative, but not necessarily comprehensive.

Create High-Quality, Strategic Design

  • Develop creative concepts and visual solutions that align with project strategy, creative briefs, brand standards, and business goals.
  • Design across a range of formats, including brand identity, digital campaigns, social media, websites, email, presentations, video graphics, out-of-home, experiential, and print collateral.
  • Apply strong fundamentals in typography, composition, layout, color, hierarchy, and visual storytelling.
  • Adapt creative style and execution appropriately across different clients, industries, audiences, and platforms.
  • Carry work from initial concept and exploration through revisions, production, and final delivery.
  • Produce and adapt assets at volume — sizes, variants, localizations, and test cells — without letting quality drift across the set.

Work With AI, Not Around It

  • Use generative and AI-assisted tools throughout the creative process for research, ideation, concept exploration, moodboarding, rapid visualization, image generation and extension, retouching, variant production, and workflow efficiency.
  • Build multi-step workflows rather than one-off prompts, and document them so the rest of the Art Department can pick them up and use them.
  • Apply professional judgment to AI-generated or AI-assisted work, ensuring final deliverables meet BP's expectations for quality, originality, accuracy, brand alignment, and client confidentiality.
  • Understand and respect the practical limits: IP, likeness, usage rights, disclosure, and what we will and won't put in front of a client.
  • Evaluate new tools as they emerge and come back with a recommendation, rather than waiting to be told which ones to use.
  • Share useful discoveries, techniques, tools, and workflow improvements with the Art Department and broader team.
  • Partner with Art Department leadership and cross-functional teams to translate strategy and creative direction into effective visual solutions.
  • Participate actively in brainstorms, kickoffs, creative reviews, and project discussions.
  • Clearly communicate creative ideas, rationale, opportunities, and challenges throughout the design process.
  • Present work internally and, when appropriate, to clients in a clear and professional manner.
  • Receive feedback with an open mind, ask thoughtful questions, and incorporate direction without losing sight of the project's strategic objectives.

Own Project Execution & Quality

  • Manage multiple assignments and priorities while consistently meeting agreed-upon deadlines and project expectations.
  • Review work carefully before delivery to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and alignment with BP and client standards.
  • Maintain organized project files and contribute to shared libraries of brand assets, design resources, photography, and other creative materials.
  • Proactively communicate when timelines, scope, resources, or creative challenges could affect delivery.
  • Jump in as needed to support day-to-day creative requests and broader team priorities.
  • Work a hybrid schedule, joining team members for in-office days on Mondays and Fridays.

Stay Curious & Push the Craft Forward

  • Stay current on developments in graphic design, branding, digital experiences, social content, AI tooling, and visual culture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design processes, templates, systems, or workflows, and help turn those ideas into practical solutions.
  • Contribute ideas, not just execution, and increasingly strengthen the creative direction of projects.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven design experience through a strong portfolio of high-end work across multiple channels.
  • 3+ years experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma. Familiarity with scheduling, file managing, and communication apps such as Dropbox, Google Suite, Slack, Asana, Toggl, etc.
  • Fundamental knowledge of typography, composition, branding, color theory, and overall best practices.
  • Demonstrated fluency with generative AI tools. You can explain what you used, what you had to override, and why.
  • Working understanding of the practical limits around AI in client work: IP, likeness, usage rights, and disclosure.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, balancing multiple projects and timelines, capability to work both collaboratively and independently, while remaining accountable & delivering projects on time.
  • A 'no task is too small' attitude, willing to jump in as needed to support the team with day-to-day creative.
Not Required, But Bonus Points
  • Copy-writing experience
  • Motion design and editing skills (After Effects, Premiere)
  • Blender or equivalent 3D skills
  • Experience building design systems or templates for scaled production
  • Basic HTML/CSS or no-code build familiarity
What Success Looks Like
  • Creative work consistently meets or exceeds BP and client expectations for quality, strategy, accuracy, and brand alignment.
  • Projects move from concept through final delivery with strong ownership, organization, communication, and attention to detail.
  • The Designer manages multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and proactively communicating challenges or changes.
  • Creative concepts demonstrate thoughtful problem-solving and an understanding of the story, audience, and objective behind the work.
  • Cross-functional partners view the Designer as collaborative, dependable, receptive to feedback, and easy to work with.
  • The Designer contributes ideas, not just execution, and increasingly strengthens the creative direction of projects.
  • AI-enabled tools are used responsibly and translated into meaningful improvements in creativity, output, or workflow — with workflows documented and shared rather than kept personal.
  • Output capacity grows over time without a corresponding drop in craft.
  • The Designer actively contributes to BP's culture by taking ownership, leading with humility, staying curious, serving with intention, and making the work and processes around them better.
  • Location: Marietta, GA — hybrid, with in-office days on Mondays and Fridays
  • Experience Level: Mid-level, typically 3-5 years
  • Compensation: $60,000-$70,000
  • Benefits: Paid time off, 401(k), health insurance reimbursement, professional development, and flexible remote work
