Job summary

Zippertubing Company in Tempe, AZ, is seeking a Designer - Architectural Acoustics to design custom architectural acoustic panels for commercial interiors, develop concepts, layouts, finishes, and renderings to communicate design intent.

You will collaborate with architects, interior designers, and manufacturing, present concepts, and help select materials that meet aesthetic and acoustic goals; in-office role with close collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in interior, architectural, or commercial design, or 4 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience presenting design concepts to customers.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Experience with SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, CET, Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom architectural acoustic panel solutions for commercial interiors.
  • Create product concepts, layouts, finish combinations, and presentation materials.
  • Develop renderings, product mockups, and visualizations to communicate design intent.
  • Recommend materials, colors, textures, and finishes that support design goals and acoustic performance.
  • Curate finish assortments, material palettes, and sample programs to simplify product selection for architects and interior designers.
  • Partner with architects, interior designers, contractors, and customers throughout the design process.
  • Help customers select products and finishes that meet aesthetic and acoustic objectives.
  • Interpret architectural drawings, finish schedules, and specifications.
  • Present design concepts, renderings and product recommendations.

Overview

TECHLITE, a division of The Zippertubing Company, is a specialized U.S. manufacturer of architectural acoustic panels and engineered insulation systems. We partner with architects, designers, contractors, and manufacturers to solve acoustic challenges with customized, high-performance solutions. We are looking for a creative, customer-focused Designer - Architectural Acoustics for built spaces who blends design, visual communication, technical problem solving, and customer collaboration. This role is ideal for someone with experience in an architectural or interior design firm who wants to see ideas become real products used in built spaces. Projects may include workplace, education, healthcare, hospitality, technology, government, and public interiors.

Responsibilities
  • Design custom architectural acoustic panel solutions for commercial interiors.
  • Create product concepts, layouts, finish combinations, and presentation materials.
  • Develop renderings, product mockups, and visualizations to communicate design intent.

Customer Design Consultation
  • Partner with architects, interior designers, contractors, and customers throughout the design process.
  • Help customers select products and finishes that meet aesthetic and acoustic objectives.
  • Interpret architectural drawings, finish schedules, and specifications.
  • Present design concepts, renderings and product recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with Product Management, Sales, Engineering, Customer Support and Manufacturing.
  • Assist with customer presentations and specification support.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on product launches, website, catalogs, photography, and trade show materials.
  • Assist in developing booth concepts, product displays, presentation materials, graphics, and customer engagement experiences at industry events including NeoCon and other interior design and building product trade shows.
  • Support development of new architectural product offerings.
  • Research emerging design trends, finishes, materials, and workplace environments; monitor trends affecting acoustic products.
  • Recommend new product concepts and material offerings based on feedback, market opportunities and design trends.
  • Participate in prototype reviews and product testing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Product Design, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in interior, architectural, or commercial design, or 4 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience presenting design concepts to customers.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Experience with SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, CET, Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred (But Not Required)
  • Experience at an architecture or interior design firm.
  • Experience with architectural products, acoustic products, commercial furniture, wall/ceiling systems, or interior finishes.
  • Understanding of NRC, STC, architectural specifications, LEED, and/or WELL Building Standard.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction processes.
  • Experience working with product manufacturers and developing sample programs, finish assortments, material libraries, or specification tools.
  • Experience with Material Bank or similar specification and material-sampling platforms.
  • Benefits typically include: 80 hours vacation, 48 hours sick time, Medical, Vision, Flex Spending, 401K with match, Life/AD&D insurance.
Schedule
  • Full-time, in-office position – Tempe, AZ (near Priest and University).
  • Monday to Thursday (6:00am – 3:30pm) and Friday (6:00am – 10:00am).
  • Off on Saturdays and Sundays most of the time.
