Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, designs components and system subsystems, using CAD/CAM/CATIA to create layouts and proposals. The role coordinates with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and planning to ensure design criteria meet production and contractual specs.

Candidates should have a strong background in design engineering with relevant education and shipboard experience preferred. This is a full-time, on-site role with travel and U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of experience.
• Associates Degree or 2-year technical degree with 6 years experience.
• Shipboard experience is preferred.

The Role

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Must Have

• High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of experience
• -or-
• Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years experience

Nice to Have

• Shipboard Experience Is Preferred.
