Job summary

Pike Engineering in Pittsburgh is seeking a Designer III to provide advanced technical leadership and create precise engineering documentation. You will guide project work with minimal supervision and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex engineering problems.

The role requires strong AutoCAD and MicroStation skills, plus the ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate clearly, and maintain professional records as you contribute to project success.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience and a Bachelor's in Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
• 4–10 years experience with an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
• 10+ years' experience with no degree

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and guidance in problem identification, analysis and resolution

Job description

Position Overview:

This is the third level of the Designer classification. Provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and provide leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under minimal direct supervision, in the area of expertise will provide:

• technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems
• effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
• thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, drawings and sketches
• continuous improvement of job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance
• effective oral and written communication skills
• accurate records and files
• support of the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

Requirements

• Either 4 or more years’ experience and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 4 to 10 years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 10+ years equivalent experience with no degree.
• Proven Autocad and/or Microstation skills
• Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
