Job summary

SpecSys Inc. is seeking a Designer to translate product requirements into detailed designs and drawings, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure functionality and manufacturability. The role involves managing multiple CAD projects, delivering on time and within budget.

The candidate will develop CAD models, generate manufacturing drawings, and review tolerances while coordinating with Mfg Operations, Sales and Quality to meet client expectations and project goals.

Qualifications

• Has completed courses in trigonometry, mathematics, physics, machine shop and drafting.
• CAD AAS degree or equivalent experience.
• Comfort interacting with Mfg Operations, Sales, Clients and Quality at a management level.

• Develop engineering solutions that meet customer needs by translating requirements into detailed designs and drawings.

SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $78,000, dependent on experience

The Designer is responsible for developing engineering solutions that meet customer needs by translating product requirements into detailed designs and drawings. This position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with client expectations. The Designer manages multiple projects simultaneously, delivering on time and on budget.

What does the Designer do for SpecSys? They:

• Overall project responsibility including:
• Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications
• Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget
• Customer management to understand expectations and standards

Working on multiple CAD packagesCreating detailed CAD models of manufactured componentsCreating detailed CAD models of purchase partsReviewing CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturabilityDeveloping detail drawings of purchased components and assembliesDeveloping detailed manufacturing drawings of piece parts, weldments, assemblies, and schematicsReviewing detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standardsGenerating Bill of MaterialsReviewing and updating model and drawing tolerancesProject CAD layoutDeveloping design concepts to perform project function reviewsReviewing Bill of Materials for completenessSpecifying purchase components to be usedSourcing purchase components to be usedPreparing CAD model for FEA analysisPreparing project review bookletsInitiating and occasionally moderating project review meetingsDeveloping and updating project timelinesReviewing project scope and ensure project is still in line with contract and expectationsUpdating and track action / issue itemsPreparing Engineering Change Order proposals for submission to the customers

How would we define a good candidate? Someone who:

• Has the ability to interact at a management level with Mfg Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality
• Has completed courses in trigonometry, mathematics, physics, machine shop and drafting
• Has a Computer Aided Drafting and Design AAS Degree
• Or has any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance
