Responsibilities

• Develop design studies, diagrams, drawings, models, and presentation materials.

• Support product, material, systems, and sustainability research.
• Assist with code, permitting, and agency research.
• Help coordinate projects with various stakeholders.

HATCH Architecture is a Los Angeles-based design studio seeking a talented, highly motivated Designer to work directly with the principal architect on residential and multidisciplinary design projects.

This is a hands‑on role for someone with strong design instincts, strong technical ability, and the desire to grow inside a small, ambitious studio. The right person is creative, organized, curious, dependable, and excited by the full process of design: from early studies and drawings to details, materials, permitting, and construction.

Our work spans custom residential, hospitality, commercial, landscape/site design, interiors, branding, and conceptual design. We are especially interested in architecture that is deeply connected to site, landscape, material, and environmental performance.

This role is ideal for a junior to emerging designer who wants meaningful responsibility, direct mentorship, and the opportunity to contribute visibly to the evolution of the studio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop design studies, diagrams, drawings, models, and presentation materials
• Assist with Revit models, drawing sets, details, and technical documentation under the direction of the principal architect
• Produce renderings and visual studies for design development and client presentations
• Support product, material, systems, and sustainability research
• Assist with code, permitting, and agency research
• Help coordinate with consultants, vendors, clients, and city agencies in a professional manner
• Visit project sites for documentation, observation, and design coordination
• Contribute to internal design discussions and studio culture

Qualifications

• Professional degree in architecture or related design field preferred
• 1–4 years of professional experience preferred; exceptional recent graduates will be considered
• Strong Revit ability required
• Strong design sensibility and graphic eye
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Rhino, Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion, 3DS Max, or similar rendering software is a plus
• Understanding of construction drawings, details, materials, and building systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized, self‑directed, and able to manage deadlines
• Authorized to work in the United States
