Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Designer to join the engineering team in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. You will design and develop custom automotive shipping racks for OEMs, translating customer drawings and specs into production-ready designs.

Strong Solidworks skills are required, with Siemens NX as a plus. You will create manufacturing drawings, work with cross-functional teams, and support prototyping and production launches to ensure cost-effective manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proficient in Solidworks and blueprint reading.
• Experience interpreting OEM drawings, specs, and CAD data.
• Familiarity with weldments and manufacturing drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom automotive shipping racks for OEM customers.
• Interpret OEM drawings, specifications, CAD data, and packaging requirements.
• Create accurate manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, materials and finishes.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, welding, purchasing and production teams to ensure cost-effective manufacture.
• Incorporate customer requirements and ensure designs meet OEM standards and specs.
• Participate in design reviews and resolve design or manufacturing issues.
• Support prototype development, testing, and production launch.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Designer to join their engineering team. This position is responsible for designing and developing custom automotive shipping racks used by OEM customers. The ideal candidate has strong Solidworks 3D modeling and design experience, understands automotive manufacturing and fabrication processes, and can translate customer requirements, drawings, and specifications into practical, production-ready designs. Previous experience with Siemens NX is a major asset, but not required.

• Candidates must have an up-to-date resume showing relevant experience to be considered for this opportunity.

salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

Responsibilities
