Qualifications

• Passing score of at least 70% on the written and performance tests for licensure.
• Passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy (VTLST) and the Communication and Literacy Skills Test.
• Design and Visual Communications license requirements are expected to be completed as soon as possible from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning for the students.
• Guides learning toward district curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Implements district philosophy, instructional goals, and performance expectations.
• Assesses student progress regularly and communicates with parents as needed.
• Maintains accurate records as required by policy and law.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Keeps students safe and follows code of conduct and policies.
• Plans and supervises paraprofessional assignments and provides evaluations as required.
• Maintains ongoing professional growth and participates in teacher evaluation processes.
• Attends meetings to promote communication and mutual decision making.
• Participates in district activities and budget/curriculum discussions.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Education

Associate degree or higher related to subject matter

Four years recent design and visual communications experience

Licensure tests passing (70%+)
