An established industry player is seeking a Reliability Engineer to develop and implement qualification processes that meet customer requirements for long life failure rates. In this role, you will collaborate closely with program management and engineering teams to drive new products while ensuring that reliability improvements are identified and realized in successive product generations. Your expertise in the physics of failure, electronic components, and manufacturing processes will be crucial in resolving reliability issues and enhancing product quality. • Develop and implement qualification process methods to meet customer requirements for long life failure rates.
• Schedule, coordinate and execute said qualification plans and methods in accordance with agreed time frames.
• Work closely with NPI Program Management and NPI Manufacturing Engineering teams to drive new products to meet agreed time frames.
• Monitor new product validation activities against targets to ensure sufficient progress toward those targets is being achieved.
• Identify opportunities for reliability improvement in current products and work within the product commercialization process to realize these improvements in successive generations of designs.
• Working in a team environment, resolve reliability problems that result in excessive in-house or customer failure rates.
• Provide guidance to internal groups regarding technical questions or concerns.
• Distribute reports that track product and/or process reliability performance to internal groups and to customers.
• Make recommendations for test, burn-in screening and life test capital equipment acquisition.
• Solid knowledge of the physics of failure of PCBs and electronic components.
• Solid knowledge of electronic circuits, components, PCBs and electronics manufacturing processes.
• Software coding knowledge a plus.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art reliability assessment methods and techniques.
• Ability to accomplish tasks through influencing others.
• Experience with FMEA and Design of Experiments.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers and/or suppliers.
• Ability to use some or all of the following PC applications: MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, MiniTab, JMP to generate reports, capturing data, and presenting data and information in an understandable format.
• Knowledge and understanding of business processes and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, and on-time delivery.
• Knowledge in workmanship of builds and ability to build quality set ups.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in related field, e.g. BSEE, Physics, or Materials Science.
• Familiarity with power conversion theory including AC/DC and DC/DC preferred.
• Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent writing and time management skills.
• Familiarity with automotive requirements and controls preferred.
Salary Range $80,400 - $115,575.
Please note: This range is based on our current market driven pay structures. Individual salaries are determined based upon a variety of factors including but not limited to, a candidate's overall qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience as well as company internal equity.
