Job summary

HOK in Kansas City seeks a Design Technology Manager to lead BIM initiatives within the Advanced Technology Group. This hybrid role requires on-site presence three days weekly and focuses on improving project delivery through design technologies, BIM processes, and standards.

You will supervise BIM Coordinators, provide training, and advance regional implementation while staying current with emerging tools and sustainable design practices.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, IT, or a related discipline is required.
• At least eight years of progressive experience in BIM, 3D modeling, design technology, or related project delivery technologies.
• LEED Accredited Professional or Green Associate credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive the successful implementation of design technology initiatives within the regional practice.
• Improve project delivery quality and efficiency through BIM processes and design technologies.
• Support project teams with BIM planning, project setup, technology configuration, and workflow optimization.
• Ensure consistent application of technology standards while addressing regional needs.
• Build technical capabilities across the practice through training, mentoring, and ongoing support.
• Supervise BIM Coordinators and provide direct project support.
• Provide proactive BIM implementation planning, project kickoffs, and configuration support.
• Conduct BIM-based quality control reviews and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Customize and maintain design technology standards to align with firmwide guidelines.
• Ensure configurations, customizations, and workflows comply with standards and procedures.
• Deliver orientation, training, and continuing education on design software, standards, and processes.
