Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a senior leader to direct the Design Technology Department within the Transmission & Distribution Global Practice in the Midwest region. The role focuses on vision, strategy, talent development, and aggressive pursuit of excellence across multiple locations.

You will drive automation, innovation, and safety compliance while mentoring staff and coordinating with HR for recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to influence, lead and manage change thoughtfully and positively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
• Proficiency with design technology tools and software as listed in the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Create a vision of the future for the Design Technology Department and the roadmap for success.
• Establish expectations and accountability measures for staff within the department.
• Develop short- and long-term goals aligned to the vision and profitability growth.
• Advocate for the Design Technology staff to leadership and stakeholders.
• Overlap with HR to identify training and career development opportunities.
• Oversight of onboarding and ongoing staff development within the department.
• Collaborate with leadership to ensure staffing and resource alignment across locations.
