Job summary

AES Ohio is hiring a Design Technician II for 1st shift at the Dayton Service Center. The role focuses on electrical distribution design, customer coordination, and mentoring peers in a safety-focused environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass AES Tech tests. Candidates must meet one of: an associate’s degree in electrical fields or a Journeyman electrician license, with progression through design tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Pass the EEi Tech Test or other Company approved aptitude test.
• Must meet one of the following: a two-year associate's degree in electrical/electrical engineering or a Journeyman electrician license or equivalent military training.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate design of electric projects of increasing difficulty, including three-phase extensions and replacements.
• Perform design work under directive supervision and ensure accuracy of drawings and calculations.
• Coordinate with commercial, industrial and government customers, developers, architects, and engineers.
• Instruct and mentor other team members; provide technical guidance on distribution design matters.
• Verify compliance with applicable codes and AES Ohio standards (NEC, NESC, safety rules).
• Support and update design software, maps, and as-built records; assist with job closeouts.

Education

Two-year associate's degree in electrical engineering

Journeyman electrician license or equivalent military training
