Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking a design drafter to create designs and drawings from order forms and client selections, under supervision of a design manager. You will develop layouts, prepare drawings, and write technical descriptions, ensuring code compliance while coordinating with clients, technical staff, and internal teams.

This role requires an associate degree and proficiency with PrimeCad and AutoCAD; experience with MS Word/Excel is beneficial, with attention to detail and teamwork

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Experience with CAD software preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with sales personnel and customers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with outside sales personnel and customers to accurately complete, safe and quality structures.
• Assures stability, deflection and load carries in a manner that will meet or surpass codes associated with each project.
• Follow quality control procedures for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance for the implementation of design standards.
• Confers with client, technical staff, and other Design Services personnel, and prepares design modifications as required.
• Develop and complete design details from original concept drawings and prepare layouts.
• Draws rough sketches or arranges for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence.
• Writes technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties.
• Review design(s) for most efficient and profitable use of inventory, equipment, and labor as time permits.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement.
• Other Duties as assigned.
