Job summary

Stratus in Huntington, WV is seeking an entry-level Design Technician I to support the creation of digital design models, drawings, and documentation using CAD and BIM software. You will assist senior designers and engineers to prepare accurate drawings that meet project standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in Revit/CAD/BIM or related field.
• 0–5 years of experience in Revit or CAD/BIM design.
• Experience with industry design software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, E3D, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing 2D and 3D models, drawings, and layouts using CAD/BIM software per project standards.
• Prepare basic construction documents, plans, and details under supervision.
• Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements and adjust drawings as needed.
• Maintain and organize project files for easy access by team members.
• Perform quality checks on own work to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
• Update drawings/models based on feedback from senior staff or stakeholders.
• Follow CAD/BIM standards to ensure consistency across deliverables.

The Role

The Design Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the creation of digital design models, drawings, and documentation using CAD and BIM software. This role involves assisting senior designers and engineers by preparing accurate and detailed drawings that comply with project specifications and standards. The CAD/BIM Designer I works on various projects, developing foundational skills in CAD and BIM technology while contributing to the successful completion of design projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of 2D and 3D models, drawings, and layouts using CAD and BIM software according to project specifications and standards.
• Prepare basic construction documents, plans, and details under the guidance of senior designers and engineers.
• Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements, making adjustments to drawings as needed.
• Maintain and update project files, ensuring that all digital models and drawings are organized and accessible for team members.
• Conduct quality control checks on own work to ensure accuracy and adherence to project standards before submitting for review.
• Update and revise drawings and models based on feedback from senior team members or project stakeholders.
• Follow established CAD/BIM standards and protocols to ensure consistency and quality across all project deliverables.
• Support senior CAD/BIM designers with basic technical tasks, including importing and exporting files and assisting with software troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate’s degree, or certification in Revit, CAD, BIM, or a related field
• 0-5 years of experience in Revit, or CAD/BIM design, coursework, or relevant experience
• Experience with industry design software (AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, E3D, or equivalent).

Preferred

• Solid background in detailed design within the engineering industry.
• Experience with on-site 3D scanning and software.
