Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Designer to support electric distribution pole replacement projects. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in electrical systems, design planning, and field assessments, with a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Job Duties:

Project Planning & Design

• Develop detailed plans and layouts for pole replacement projects.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, and bills of materials.
• Ensure all designs comply with electric distribution standards and applicable codes.

Site Assessment & Field Analysis

• Conduct field inspections of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.
• Evaluate pole conditions, assess load requirements, and identify replacement needs.

Technical Analysis

• Perform pole loading and voltage drop calculations.
• Utilize technical expertise to support engineering decision-making and design accuracy.

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with project leads, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution of projects.
• Monitor project progress and provide technical support during implementation.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain comprehensive project documentation and prepare reports detailing design criteria, site evaluations, and compliance status.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all project activities adhere to safety standards and utility regulations.
• Proactively address compliance and permitting issues as they arise.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in electric distribution design, including both overhead and underground systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution standards and pole replacement criteria.
• Proficiency in engineering software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, BlueBeam, and other utility-specific design tools.
• Experience conducting field inspections and environmental assessments.
• Familiarity with pole loading calculations and voltage drop analysis.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities with a proactive approach to challenges.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior work with any electric distribution utility company.
• Field experience evaluating aging infrastructure and determining structural requirements for new installations.
