Job summary

Whatnot is hiring a Design Systems engineer to advance the Whatnot Design System across iOS, Android, and web. You will architect tokens, pipelines, and APIs, and collaborate with designers to ensure consistent, accessible UI across platforms.

The role emphasizes integration of Figma, tooling, and AI-assisted workflows to speed up component migrations while maintaining quality. Hybrid work model with hub access in SF or NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Shipped production UI on at least two platforms (iOS, Android, web) and comfortable across all three.
• Hands-on experience building or maintaining a design system: component libraries, tokens, API design.
• Strong collaboration with designers; fluent in Figma and design-to-code workflows.
• Care for accessibility, theming, RTL, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve design system components across iOS, Android, and web.
• Own design token architecture and token pipelines to land changes everywhere.
• Collaborate daily with product designers; review specs and APIs; build tooling.
• Raise the bar on accessibility, dark mode, visual testing, and component telemetry.
