Job summary

WSP USA in Baton Rouge, LA seeks an Assistant Technician, Design Support to provide basic technical design and CADD support for power delivery and related projects. You will generate design deliverables, ensure accuracy, and assist with calculations and drawings under supervision.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, following design standards, and maintaining quality across planning, transportation, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Excellent research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset.
• Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
• Familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic technical design assistance with proper illustration, fit, form, and function using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Use 3D CADD software to assist with design details and produce drawings requiring precision.
• Assist with verifying calculations, design changes, and interpretation of plans and specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and other professionals across project phases to deliver designs on time.
• Ensure plans adhere to applicable city, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers.
