Job summary

WSP's Baton Rouge, LA office seeks an Assistant Technician, Design Support to contribute to power delivery projects. Under supervision, you will assist with drafting, 3D CAD, and design deliverables for planning, infrastructure, and technical services.

This role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration with engineers, and adherence to codes. Requires a high school diploma and at least 3 years of drafting experience; associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; minimum 3 years post-education drafting/design support experience.
• Familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, and techniques.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and follow project instructions.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, and analyze data from sites, surveys, blueprints and drawings to support drafting and design activities.
• Use 3D CAD software to assist with basic design details and prepare precise drawings.
• Provide design assistance with GD&T, tolerances, and quantities while ensuring maintainability.
• Verify calculations, interpret plans/specs, and escalate technical issues for resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across project phases and tasks.
• Ensure plans comply with city codes, state and federal regulations.
• Prepare multiple design versions for review by engineers.
• Ensure dimensions, materials, and procedures meet contract requirements.
