Job summary

Hope College invites applications for a Non-Tenure-Track Instructor of Studio Art in Design. The position teaches 100-level design courses covering 2D design principles and basic software skills, and an upper-level design course to develop design thinking.

Responsibilities include syllabi, instruction, student assessment, office hours, and managing the design budget. The instructor is expected to attend department meetings, critiques, De Pree Gallery events, and assist with launching the design

Qualifications

Master's Degree in studio art or design.
Commitment to Hope College's mission as a liberal arts college, inclusive excellence, and Christian values.
Teaching load of 24 workload credits per academic year and responsibilities include syllabi, instruction, student assessment, and office hours.

Responsibilities

Teach 100-level design courses focusing on 2D design principles and basic design software.
Teach one upper-level design course developing design thinking and exploration.
Prepare syllabi, deliver instruction, assess students, maintain regular office hours, and manage the design budget.
Attend department meetings, critiques, De Pree Gallery events, and assist in launching and overseeing the design minor.
Potential to include a first-year seminar or Senior Seminar rotation in future years.
