Johnson Controls is seeking a global leader to standardize engineering processes for Dry-Coolers and CDUs, developing scalable product platforms that support lifecycle management, digital transformation, and design automation.
You will drive consistency in product structures, BOMs, CAD models and configuration models, lead cross-functional teams worldwide, and enable configurability and platform scalability across New Product Introduction and sustaining engineering.
This global role leads the standardization of engineering processes, product data architecture, and design methodologies for Dry-Coolers and Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs). The position is responsible for developing scalable and configurable product platforms that support efficient product development, lifecycle management, digital transformation, and long-term business growth. The role drives consistency across product structures, engineering documentation, configuration models, and business systems while enabling automation, design reuse, and operational efficiency. The position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, product management, and digital teams to establish and deploy global standards that support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering activities. Design processes within the scope of this role include all activities required to develop, configure, release, manufacture, and support products throughout their lifecycle. This includes engineering documentation, design standards, product structures, Bills of Material (BOMs), CAD models, drawings, configurators, product data management, PLM systems, ERP systems, and other engineering-related business processes. A key focus of this role is to define and maintain product architecture, data structures, and engineering methodologies that enable design automation, product configurability, platform scalability, and future digital engineering initiatives. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional efforts to standardize engineering processes globally and drive adoption of best practices across the organization.
Establish, document, maintain, and continuously improve standardized engineering processes for Dry-Coolers and CDUs through collaboration with global engineering, manufacturing, and product teams.
Act as product architecture lead for design standardization initiatives, including Engineering Order Manual (EOM) structures, CAD models, drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), configuration models, and product documentation.
Define and govern product data architecture, ensuring consistent product structures, engineering master data, and lifecycle management practices across all systems.
Develop design standards, guidelines, and governance processes that improve product quality, engineering efficiency, and data consistency.
Develop and maintain scalable and configurable product architectures that support product variation, engineering reuse, and manufacturing flexibility.
Define configuration strategies, product rules, modular structures, and platform standards that support current and future product offerings.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and digital teams to improve product configurability while reducing complexity.
Drive initiatives that increase standardization, support growth, and improve the ability to introduce new products and features efficiently.
Contribute to the development of generic, cross-product line tools, templates and data structures that the design automation team will require to execute their strategy.
Provide recommendations on how to deploy and use standardized design methodology.
Support deployment activities and contribute to testing and training activities as requested.
Lead and support global change management activities related to engineering process standardization and digital transformation initiatives.
Build alignment across cross-functional teams and establish adoption of standardized methodologies and best practices.
Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, product quality, data quality, reuse, and time-to-market.
Serve as a trusted subject matter expert and advisor for product architecture, configurability, standardization, and engineering process excellence.
$85,000 - $107,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
This position includes a competitive benefits package.
