Design Within Reach's Pittsburgh store on Smallman Street is seeking a Design Specialist who blends design sensibility with consultative selling to deliver exceptional client experiences. You will present iconic modern design, work closely with the General Manager, and help drive store success in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The role requires a passion for modern interiors, retail or design consulting experience, and comfort using CRM tools.

Qualifications

• Design-savvy sales professional with a passion for modern interiors.
• Experience in retail sales, design consulting, or customer success preferred.
• Background in interior design or architecture preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and design tools like SketchUp or AutoCAD.
• Able to lift over 40 lbs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales by delivering personalized design consultations and solutions that meet client needs
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, trade professionals, and the local design community
• Meet and exceed sales performance goals, including revenue targets and client retention metrics
• Guide clients through product selection, space planning, and styling
• Manage the full client lifecycle using CRM tools and outreach strategies to exceed sales goals
• Maintain visual merchandising standards and contribute to the store's overall aesthetic
• Stay current on product knowledge, design trends, and industry developments through training and self-study
• Conduct in-home consultations and attend off-site meetings with trade clients as needed
