Job summary

Ernesta, a design-forward rug company in Greenwich, CT, is seeking a Design Assistant to join our Retail team in the showroom on W. Putnam Ave.

You will educate customers on rug selection, layout, and spatial planning while delivering a frictionless buying experience. You’ll wear two hats: design advisor and customer champion, handling inquiries, orders, delivery, and follow-up across in-person and digital channels, building relationships and ensuring happiness at every touchpoint.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a consumer-facing role or direct sales experience.
• Strong communication and ability to build trust with customers.
• Proficient with online tools and basic design software.

Responsibilities

• Set industry standard for customer experience and sales.
• Drive sales through follow-up and outreach.
• Provide design expertise to customers.
• Maintain a clean, on-brand showroom that delights visitors.
• Assist customers across channels: in person, chat, text, email, video, and phone.
• Advise on floor plan layout, material selection, and rug measurements.
• Resolve order-related inquiries including tracking and delivery logistics.
• Create memorable customer experiences and exceed expectations.
• Learn design technologies to help customers visualize spaces (CAD, Adobe, 3D rendering).
• Maintain feedback loops to improve internal processes.
