Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a Design & Release Engineer (DRE) for Transmission and Gear Reducer Structures, Seals and Fasteners in Auburn Hills, MI. This on-site contract role spans multiple responsibilities from design and release to DFMEA and supplier engagement.

You will work within a COE to deliver robust components and drive continuous improvements. The position requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET.) and 5+ years in propulsion or automatic transmissions, with strong GD&T and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• Minimum 5 years in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions or related field.
• Understanding of system engineering within automatic transmissions and electric drive units.
• Experience as a DRE in OEM and/or Tier 1 suppliers to OEMs.

Responsibilities

• Design and release for key components: structures, seals, fasteners.
• Lead change-management for components; ensure best practices and lessons learned are applied.
• Develop docs, specifications, requirements, and drawing signoffs for key components.
• Spearhead supplier sourcing and industrialization; manage PPAP processes.
• Lead warranty and quality topics; drive cost optimization and value creation.
• Travel to suppliers 5% of time; interface with cross-functional teams to meet requirements.
