Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a motivated Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Interior Alerts to support the design, development, validation, and release of vehicle interior alert systems. You'll work with cross-functional teams to ensure components meet customer requirements and program timing.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of automotive engineering experience and an interest in HMI, vehicle electronics, and interior systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 2–5 years automotive engineering experience.
  • Experience in product development, design release, validation, or systems engineering.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, development, and release of interior alert system components throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, validation, quality, and vehicle integration teams.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, drawings, specifications, and release records.
  • Assist in validation planning to meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Support testing activities, issue investigation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings to meet milestones.
  • Track engineering changes and support design updates.
  • Assist with prototype builds and vehicle integration activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues and ensure timely deliverables.
  • Support continuous improvement focused on quality, cost, and performance.

We are seeking a motivated Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Interior Alerts to support the design, development, validation, and release of vehicle interior alert systems. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alert components and systems meet customer requirements, quality standards, and program timing objectives.

The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive product development and an interest in vehicle electronics, human-machine interfaces (HMI), interior systems, and customer-facing vehicle features.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, and release of interior alert system components and features throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing, validation, quality, and vehicle integration teams to support program deliverables.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, drawings, specifications, and release records within company systems.
  • Assist in developing and tracking validation plans to ensure product performance and reliability requirements are met.
  • Support testing activities, issue investigation, and root cause analysis for component and system concerns.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings to support product development milestones.
  • Track engineering changes and support implementation of design updates.
  • Assist with prototype builds, vehicle integration activities, and launch support as needed.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, and performance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of automotive engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting product development, design release, validation, or systems engineering activities.
  • Basic understanding of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and project coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with vehicle interior systems, HMI, warning indicators, audible alerts, displays, switches, controls, or related vehicle features.
  • Familiarity with automotive development processes such as APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, and PPAP.
  • Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication networks such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.
  • Exposure to validation and vehicle integration activities.
