Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Design Release Engineer for Customer Controls in Warren, MI. You will lead design release for switch assemblies, coordinate with internal teams and suppliers, and drive issues to resolution to ensure timely production.

The role requires a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, hands-on vehicle experience, and a proactive, cross-functional mindset with DFMEA and validation responsibilities.

The engineer in this role will represent the engineering organization to internal program teams as well as external suppliers.In this role you will develop engineering solutions to release a final design for production. In the role you will be responsible for a group of customer controls components engineering them for use by multiple vehicle programs, and also work with supplier resident engineers to resolve issues and release of parts. As the Design Release Engineer (DRE), you'll interact with various departments, supporting Manufacturing and Service Engineers, Product Engineering, Product Launch teams, as well as working with Quality engineers to investigate warranty related issues, and preparation of the owner's manual. Additionally, you would present design alternatives to management for decision.
