A collaborative, design-focused architecture and interiors firm is seeking an experienced Design Project Manager to lead interior design projects across living sectors like multifamily, active adult, and hospitality environments.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines a strong design eye with the ability to manage clients, teams, schedules, budgets, and project delivery. You'll lead small design teams while remaining closely involved in the creative and technical decisions that shape each project.
What You'll Do
- Lead interior design projects from kickoff through documentation, procurement coordination, and final delivery.
- Manage and mentor project teams of approximately 2–4 designers.
- Establish design direction and communicate concepts effectively to clients and project stakeholders.
- Oversee space planning, finishes, FF&E, documentation, and overall design quality.
- Manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, staffing needs, and deliverables simultaneously.
- Ensure project work remains aligned with scope, contract requirements, budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, owners, and other project partners.
- Lead client meetings, presentations, design reviews, and project communications.
- Participate in proposals, contracts, RFP responses, billing, and other project-management activities.
- Develop lasting client relationships and contribute to presentations, pursuits, and business development.
- Mentor designers and help strengthen team standards, processes, and professional development.
What We're Looking For
- Approximately 8–12+ years of interior design or architectural design experience, with demonstrated project leadership responsibility.
- Strong experience within senior living, multifamily, active adult, hospitality, or related residential environments.
- Proven ability to lead design teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of FF&E, finishes, design development, and construction documentation.
- Experience managing client relationships, presentations, project scope, schedules, and financial performance.
- Proficiency with Revit required.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with BIM collaboration, InDesign, and visualization tools is a plus.
- NCIDQ, LEED, WELL, PMP, or other relevant credentials are welcomed but not required.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Take true ownership of projects rather than being limited to one phase of design.
- Lead and mentor talented designers while remaining actively involved in the creative process.
- Gain direct exposure to clients and meaningful influence over project and design decisions.
- Join a collaborative environment that values both design quality and strong project leadership.
- Opportunity to expand your client relationships, leadership responsibilities, and long-term career trajectory.
This opportunity is particularly well suited for a Senior Interior Designer, Interior Design Project Manager, Senior Designer, or Design Manager who is ready for greater ownership of projects, teams, and client relationships.
