Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a skilled designer to support the design and implementation of building systems, including fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and related disciplines. You will assist senior designers on complex tasks, complete small projects' calculations and drawings, manage project lifecycles, and prepare RFIs and as-builts while applying codes and design standards.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines under pressure, and effective collaboration

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering design.
• Journeyman or apprentice experience preferred.
• NICET Level I Certification preferred for Fire Protection.
• Skill in performing project calculations and developing material/equipment lists with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to estimate design hours and provide essential information to support RFIs and change orders.
• Ability to meet delivery deadlines, while maintaining quality under pressure.
• Ability to competently and accurately decipher contract drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Ability to coordinate project activities effectively.
• Working knowledge of design software platforms including AutoSprink, AutoCad, NAVIS and REVIT.

Responsibilities

• Implements design modifications and field solutions.
