Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Design Phase Engineer I to support project leadership during the design phase, aligning scope, budget, schedules, and customer experience for a smooth transition to construction operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Construction or related field, at least two years of experience, and proficiency with MS Office/Project and web applications. Up to 50% travel is anticipated.

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Design Phase Engineer I that will provide support to project leadership during the design phase as it relates to customer experience, financial performance, scheduling, estimating, design and planning resulting in a smooth transition to construction operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, an integrated team experience, construction readiness, and excellent financial performance
• Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and any associated communications and resources
• Create and manage project schedules and key milestones, hold team members accountable for reaching set milestones
• Assist in regulatory approval and permitting process
• Assist in the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals
• Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection
• Identify technical design and specification concerns, elevate as needed to achieve resolution

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field
• Minimum of two year's relevant experience
• Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills
• Ability to travel up to 50%

The base pay range for this role

Design Phase Engineer I is $84,100 MIN - $113,500 MAX.

Design Phase Engineer II is $93,400 MIN - $126,100 MAX.

(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
